Heather Ferris & Gary Greenstein from Duncan, B.C. Canada

In January/February 2009 Heather and Gary stayed in Slangspruit to meet the community and Ukulapha and work with Slangspruit Primary School. Although we had to search, we managed to find them a room.
Slangspruit Primary School had numerous donated older computers 6 of which Ukulapha restored under Gary’s watchful eye. Gary then taught computer literacy to many interested educators including the school secretary. There was much excitement shifting from hand written to typed class lists etc.
Heather is originally South African and has been living in Canada for many decades. She returns to SA regularly, often for extended periods to work with the women and children of the Western and Eastern Cape. Her background is Counselling Psychology and teaching.
She helped and assisted Gary as he spent many hours sharing PC knowledge with the educators.
Heather also facilitated a 3 day psycho educational workshop, the first at the school, for caregivers of the children attending the school.
She initiated WHEAT (Women’s Hope Education & Training) in Victoria, Canada to fund raise for projects uplifting women in SA.
Heather borrows the following quote: "If you come here to help me, then you are wasting your time. But if you come here because your liberation is bound up in mine, then let us begin."
Lily Walker, Australian aboriginal women's leader A lucky and excited little girl!
